One of the cornerstones of Lean Development is to reduce waste. However, our understanding of what waste is, has traditionally been based on a one-to-one translation of the Toyota Production System to software development. In this talk, Todd Sedano, Pivotal PM in the Palo Alto office, presents his research on creating a new taxonomy of what waste in software development is, based on surveying hundreds of retrospectives.
