- Outsourcing not too cool: "This suggests that outsourcing by function is rarely adopted by elite performers."
- Good culture: flexibility on rules (in favor of customer outcomes), team autonomy, and things like retrospectives and internal conferences for learning and community: "We can see that this prioritizes strong leadership because clear communication of outcomes and goals to the team is key. And once the team understands the goal, a good leader trusts team members to execute according to their expertise. Indeed, our research finds that more autonomy fosters trust in the leader—that is, the team believes its leader is fair, honest, and trustworthy. This trust in leadership contributes to a stronger organizational culture."
