Agile strategy & roadmaps, with Joanna Beltowska (Ep. 77)

August 28, 2017 Michael Coté

"Agile Long Term Planning" sounds like an oxymoron. Or does it? A common misunderstanding about agile methodology is that it doesn't get along with long-term planning. In this episode, Coté talks with Joanna Beltowska on the topic of long-term planning in cloud-native organizations. Being agile doesn't mean a lack of vision, strategy, or a road-map at all. Indeed, those activities are more important than ever, but adding in the ability to experiment with theories and learn from the results in key. It's not that we don't want strategy and long-term planning: we want those, but with the ability to correct and modify them as they collide with the buzz-saw of reality.
