For the most part, a Java developer’s favorite thing to do with Microsoft is to ignore it. For the snarkier ones, they may even make fun of it. I remember one sysadmin telling me around the time Vista rolled out, “I heard if you play the install CD backwards you can hear satanic verses! Its worse if you play it forward though—it installs Windows!”
Developers like their jokes, but their aversion to closed source, high price tags and proprietary interfaces only strengthened arguments for Java developers to keep Microsoft out of their projects.
