iOS Roundup: Week of May 14, 2012

May 24, 2012 Derek Webb

Cool things this week:

  • Christopher’s Objective-C helper classes: XTL, XTL_Framerate, XTL_Debug, XTL_DeviceHardware, XTL_ArcCompatibility.
  • Should use UITextField for custom search bars rather than UISearchBar.

Headaches this week:

  • Blocks are handled properly about 95% of the time (ARC); however, a block is created on the stack and thus must be copied if it is to be retained for a later time.
  • TWRequest (Native iOS 5.0 Twitter) uses Twitter’s REST API which does not allow you to log into an account.
